How I accidentally became a coffee drinker at 44

For most of my life, I was a tea person. A safe, predictable tea person. Sure, I dabbled in iced coffee in my late teens, but after one too many emergency dashes to the bathroom, I wisely bowed out of the coffee game.

Fast forward to 2022. My partner would bring me a lovely cup of tea in bed every morning, a small but perfect act of love. And then one day, the smell of his coffee hit me differently. It wasn’t just inviting, it was downright seductive. I ignored it for a while, but curiosity got the better of me.

“I think I want to try one,” I said, feeling like I was about to make a life-altering decision. And oh boy, did I. One sip, and it was like my taste buds had been living in the dark their whole lives. My heart raced, my brain lit up, and suddenly, I understood why people wrote inspirational quotes about this stuff.

I started with a humble Vittoria jar coffee… basic but effective. But before I knew it, I had promoted myself to a plunger. Yes, a plunger. A bold move. Now, here I am, officially addicted, fully caffeinated, because YOLO, right?
